I. Surikov (1937-1943 Director), Leningradskom Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture named after I. E. Repin (1943-1946 Director), also headed the Institute of art history Academy of Sciences of the USSR; Trustee and Director of the Tretyakov gallery, as well as the organizer and Director of the Central restoration workshops in Moscow.
