In the bottom right of A. BENTRAT signed"." and verso in lead-referred to as "gdańsk crane". Watercolor on firm wove paper 30.5 x 41 cm. In the Mat 40.5 x 48.5 cm. Behind glass in a stepped part of the Golden Hozrahmen 45 x 54 cm. Expressive representation of the artist's home city of Gdansk harbour, Gdansk crane, and St. Mary's in the Background.
Arthur Bendrat (Danzig, 1872 - 1914 Coswig). German painter, lithographer and Illustrator.In 1892-93 to study at the art school in Dresden, 1895, at the Academy (under Friedrich Preller the younger). 1898-in 1902 a master student at the Gotthard Kuehl. Numerous awards including large silver and small gold medal of the Academy of fine arts in Dresden. Co-founder of the artist group "The Elbier". Exhibitions in Berlin, Dresden, Düsseldorf and Munich. Mainly landscape and city views between realism and impressionism, preferably, the home city of Danzig, East and West Prussia and Mecklenburg, and Denmark. 1906 illustrations of the four fairy tales of C. munsterberg, 1906, and the "fairy tale treasure", edited by P. Behrend 1908.
