Walter Helbig. Falkenstein 1878 - Ascona 1968
German-Swiss painter & graphic artist. H. studied at the Dresden Academy under C. Bantzer & O. Gußmann. He was in contact with many protagonists of the avant-garde, first with H. von Marées & E. Hildebrandt in Florence, and later with the group of the 'Blaue Reiter'. In Berlin, he was one of the founders of the New secession, and the November group. Since 1910 he lived in Switzerland. The by him with H. Arp & O. Lüthy founded the 'New Covenant' was prepared with two exhibitions, in 1911 & 1912, the modern art in Switzerland.
