Ernst Eitner. Hamburg 1867 - Hamburg 1955
German painter & graphic artist. A grant from the city of Hamburg enabled E. from 1886 to study at the Karlsruhe Academy under G. Schönleber, as well as at the academies Düsseldorf & Antwerp. In 1892 he won a gold medal at an exhibition in Dresden and already in 1894 he exhibited in Paris. He was, in 1897, a founding member of the Hamburg artists club, in 1917, he was appointed Professor. With its colourful & friendly impressionism Eitner is one of the main masters of the artistic renewal in Hamburg.
