In spite of the workload as a Royal model master Kaendler took in addition to his work orders and worked between 1731 and 1750 also variously as a stone sculptor and made several Tomb monuments.
Kaendlers most spectacular sculpture in the cloister of the Franciscan convent Church (the city Museum) is Meißen, is the tomb monument for the Meissner mayor Gottfried wedge. It shows the winged-God Saturn, who is desperately trying to preserve the three-fold broken obelisk of life before the fall. On the Base of a toad as a Symbol of life and an hour-glass as a Symbol of transience, as well as a human skull as a Symbol of death.
