Freely adjustable. Three schübig. Rich, gilded bronze ornaments. Red, gold embossed leather trim. Restored. Traces of age. Mahogany and rosewood.

The model of this Bureau finds the Plat to be famous model in the unique Desk, from the workshop of Charles Cressent (1685-1768, maître sculpteur 1719), at 28. June 1919 was applied in the Galerie des Glaces of the Palace of Versailles, the peace Treaty of Versailles signed. At the Paris peace conference in 1919, the contract for the international Entente legal termination of the First world war by the powers of the Triple and their allies. The undisputed best isn Cressent, which is the equivalent of the rank of Boulle, Riesener, or Gouthière, coined the style of the Régence significantly and produced in Paris especially chests of drawers, secretaries, and Bureau Plat. His prominent position, he became famous for his bronzes, he has not produced always comply with the Guild rules in his own workshop. The stylistic freedom led to the famous ornaments in curved and gilded bronze, in the Form of tendrils, of Rocaille, the woman busts, warriors and masks. In this dedicated use of the gold bronzes, he laid the Foundation for the Rococo style of the 18th century. Century under king Louis XV, The asymmetric composition of his bronzes speak a dynamic language of form, which led to the age of the European Baroque. The quality of his work secured him a clientele and a Reputation that influenced probably in the year 1919 decisions. His models and the catchy style were finally received far-reaching and about of Francois Linke (1855-1946) picked up. Cressent works are now in major museums and be among the illustrious exhibits from major collections, such as in the J. P. Getty Museum, the National Gallery in Washington, in the Huntington Collection, in the Palace of Versailles, or in the Wallace Collection. A special exhibition "Art de la Paix. Secrets et trésors de la diplomacy" at the Petit Palais in Paris recently showed plat also this famous bureau.
