Very typical and very well engineered Kyu-Gunto, army-sword of a higher officer, but in the older Version. Letter was introduced to this kind of a Kyu-Gunto from CA. 1877, Fuller/Gregory that most of the existing Kyu-Gunto are likely to originate from the time of the Russo-Japanese war (1904-5). Tsuba and handle-mount form one unit and are made of brass. The Tsuba pierced with Sakura motif and swinging goes on in the slim straps, the Sakura (cherry blossom), which refers symbolically to the historical Samurai Ethos, is repeated on the handle and the knob for Blade-lock. Front hand on the handle, a consistently fine gepunztes pattern, on the opposite side a white Same (ray skin). The Saya is covered with bright red leather that was black (signs of wear). The Katana blade has Iorimune, the full-length continuous width Hi, the Hamon is suguha. The Nakago could not visit.
