LEFRANCY L. L. FRENCH SCHOOL OF the Nineteenth CENTURY. Portrait of the future Alexander II (1818-1881), posing in his youth in the costume of the ottoman. Drawing in lead pencil, with ring of gouache white, on paper, signed lower right and dated 1859. Slight tears on the edges, but good overall condition. H. : 54, 5 L : 44 cm. Reference : this design is closer to a watercolour of the same subject, signed by O. Brevern and dated 1862, created after a thumbnail has disappeared, and dating from 1830, from the collection of prince G. A. Yourievsky (natural son of the tsar), and is now in the collections of the palace of Tsarskoïé Selo.
