Approx. 58mm, approx. 160g, 18K Gold, à goutte, original watch paper referred to BARRAUD CHRONOMETER, match of the London Hallmarks of 1805, Cabinet makers voting at the end of hallmark WW, signed and numbered, extremely fine chronometer movement, according to Earnshaw, equipped with Pennington Chronometer balance wheel, a cylindrical balance-spring, Diamond endstone, floral-engraved and fire-gilt pin, signed, very well-preserved enamel dial, rare, fancy blued steel hands, an extremely rare complication for a Pocket chronometer, Repetition of the hours, quarter-hours and quarter hours à toc, excellent state of preservation, fully functional, major English Chronometer. This Chronometer is known for a long time and part of the post Barraud-list (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/qRR). The last time this watch was sold at auction at Dr. Crott and had about 28.000€. Paul Philipp Barraud (1750-1820) was an English watchmaker in London. His parents were born, Francis Gabriel Barraud and Magadalen Benine. Crespin, who was a daughter of the famous Huguenot silversmith. In 1796 he was raised a member of the Clockmakers Company in London and in 1810/11 to the Master. He entered into a partnership with George Jamieson and William Howells. He had seven children, his sons Frederick Joseph, John and James followed him into the business.
