The Düsseldorf-based artist Emilie Preyer, with its flowers and fruit still life closely in the Tradition of her father, Johann Wilhelm Preyer, one of the most important still life painters of the düsseldorf school of painting.
Early on, she was trained by her father artist and received in connection to the paternal education private education at the düsseldorf Academy, the study of which was denied to women officially. So you received instruction from the historical painter Heinrich Mücke, and from the landscape painter Hans Gude. Quickly, the young painter became a recognized artist, and proved already at the age of 21 years, that dominated the father learned the basics in terms of composition, technique and colour. Study trips to Dresden, Antwerp and Holland, prepared for the Academy exhibitions. In addition to preparatory drawings and watercolors of single flowers, leaves and fruits includes the Oeuvre of the painter, mainly of still paintings life, flowers or fruits. Also, the present painting is a careful detail treatment of the drawn Arrangement of fruits. On a starched tablecloth, the artist arranged a fruit composition, consisting of a single peach as well as two still on the branches-adhesive plums, which are surrounded by light as well as dark grapes. Preyer is concentrated in the fine picturesque running the factory, especially on the faithful reproduction of the objects.
