Meissen, to 1750/55. Color-equipped. The figure belongs to a series of major nationality representations, the Kaendler, together with Peter Reinicke for Meissen created. The tartare is presented in a proud stance, with sword and bow armed. The figure is inspired by an engraving from the Ferriol in 1714 in Paris, ed. Band 'Recueil de cent estampes représentant differentes Nations du Levant'. August the Strong had a exh a in the colouring of the Deluxe edition of this volume, which is still kept today in the kupferstichkabinett in Dresden (cf. Cat.: A good figure, costume and Festival at the court in Dresden, kupferstich-Kabinett, Dresden, p. 89f.). Brand of the sword to the pedestal back. Min. Chip, arrow to the top restored, height 21.5 cm.
