Lot 2503 | Seltene Renaissance-Bronze-Medaille mit den Bildnissen
Christi und des Apostel PaulusRunde Medaille. Reliefplastische Profilbildnisse mit korrrespondierenden Umschriften "VAS ELECTIONIS APOSTOLUS" bzw. "IHS XPC SALVATOR MUNDI". Bei der ringförmigen Umbördelung mit der Öse handelt es sich um eine alte Anhänger-Modifikation. Als Vorbild der Medaille diente wahrscheinlich ein flämisches Gemälde, außerdem eine antike Kamee mit den Porträts von Christus und des Apostel Paulus, die 1492 vom türkischen Sultan Bayezid II. von Konstantinopel aus als Geschenk an Papst Innozenz VIII. nach Rom gesandt wurde. Eine monumentale Marmorversion derselben Komposition entstand um 1520 für Guillaume Gouffier de Bonnivet für sein Schloss Poitou (heute im Musée Sainte-Croix, Poitiers). Ein Medaillon mit vergleichbarem Profilbildnis Christi stellte um 1510-1512 auch Hans Burgkmair d. Ä. (1473 - 1531) als Holzschnitt dar (Blatt u. a. in der Albertina, Wien). D. 8,8 cm. H. 10 cm.Vergleichstücke befinden sich u. a. im Art, Design & Architecture Museum in Santa Barbara/Kalifornien/USA (Inventar-Nr. 1964.284), in der berühmten Kress Collection und im Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.Vgl. The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
