Lot 300ROEHN, ALPHONSE (JEAN-ALPHONSE). "Improvised dancing"
Signed lower right and 183 of[...] dated. Oil on canvas 61 x 50.5 cm. Edge doubling. Restored frame min. dam. The present painting is a typical genre scene by the Parisian artist Alphonse Roehn. The appeal of this scene lies in its spontaneity. Two young women (possibly an employee of a wealthy family) are shown in a small, simply but beautifully decorated bedrooms. On a whim, it has turned out, apparently, while cleaning up, to improvise a dance of pleasure. One of the Two sits relaxed on the bed and used a small broom as a "dance violin". The Other has not only decorated her hair with a rose flower, but her skirt loosely in the manner of a Latin dancer and draped around the waist with a cloth wrapped. A pale green chiffon scarf that may have in on the floor of the box is found, it moves expertly to their elegant dancing to imaginary music. A small dog was placed at the foot of the bed, a spring-lined-paper cones, part - male making of the "dance improvisation". Not only the imagination and a loving depiction of the Scenery, even the attention of the artist, in detail Roehn is also dedicated to the reproduction of individual items such as the bed, the Cup on the chest of drawers, a small shelf on the wall, or the paintings on the walls. Alphonse Roehn was the son of the painter and graphic artist Adolphe Eugène Gabriel Roehn (1780, Paris - 1867 Malakoff), his work includes, in addition to genre scenes, historical and religious depictions and portraits.
