Exhibitions: 'The swing' and 'soap bubbles III' were exhibited in 1928 at the Kunsthalle in Hamburg in the exhibition 'interior design'. The former exhibition situation, with the steel sold painting 'children's theatre' - was a photographer noted: the diameter of M. J.'s life and work, 2013, p. 23; K. Dorothea Maetzel-Johannsen. Lensahn 1886 - Hamburg 1930
Figures, landscape, & the style of a painter of life. M. J. was a student of L. Corinth, married to the painter & architect Emil Maetzel. After study stays in Paris & Chartres she joined in Hamburg, the secession, she was also a member of the German Association of artists & the hamburgische Künstlerschaft. It began with expressionist wood & linocuts. The painted oeuvre spans the last ten years, despite the later reassurance of the form of language, the roots are in the expressionism.
