The Pair, on matching wooden stands in a sitting position is formed from a lacquer and mother-of-pearl, a quail's head to the left, the other turned to the right, the brand "Qianlong yu wan" in mother-of-pearl on the inside of the lid. The beaks, feet, and eyes made of ivory.

Length 8.6 cm

Provenance: From a European private collection, in 2009, acquired, formerly the collection of the Rev. Victor Farmer (1898-1977) - Issued by the Oriental Ceramic Society, loan exhibition 'The Arts of The Qing Dynasty', 1964, published in the accompanying catalogue, no. 386 wooden stands and a matching Box - Minim. rubbed
