TORSO OF AMITAYUS
Silver repoussé technology with gold plating
Tibet or Mongolia
18. Century.
HEIGHT (WITHOUT BASE) 22.7 CM
Rare, interesting presentation, both technically and artistically very well worked. This repoussé technology-sculpture is with the whole torso, hands and head. There is no fracture zone, because the appearance of composite components. The abundant jewelry and the (over-lap) flat folded hands, in which a vessel has been found, refer to the special form of the transcendental Buddha Amitabha, Amitayus, whose Name means "Infinite life". Especially nice is the metaphysical appearing face with curved eyes running, an Urna on the root of the nose. Heavy jewelry ears, gold-plated "celestial garlands", the Ushnisha is more Chignon-shaped, and somewhat damaged. Remnants of partial painting. On a black Base.
