Walter Zeising was a German painter and graphic artist. He specialized in creating intricate etchings and illustrations, particularly focusing on cityscapes and architectural scenes. His artistic journey began with training from his father, Franz Emil Zeising, an accomplished xylographer. He then pursued further studies at the Munich Academy and the Dresden Academy, learning from renowned instructors like Carl Bantzer and Gotthard Kuehl.
Zeising's career included a significant period in France, where he lived in Paris and Brittany, honing his skills and expanding his artistic horizons. Upon returning to Dresden in 1910, he became an illustrator for J. J. Weber's "Illustrierte Zeitung." His work often depicted scenes of Dresden, including notable landmarks like the Frauenkirche and the Zwinger Palace, as well as everyday life in the city.
His detailed etchings have been sold at various auctions, with many depicting Dresden's iconic landmarks and its vibrant city life. Noteworthy works include "Blumenmarkt auf der Kreuzstraße in Dresden" and "Die Frauenkirche in Dresden".
