Anton Kerschbaumer was a German expressionist painter.
Kerschbaumer studied painting at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, was influenced by many current Art Nouveau movements at the turn of the century, and eventually developed his own style of expressionist representation. He painted interiors, still lifes, but above all views of Ostend, Berlin or the city of Malcesine. Kerschbaumer was a member of the Association of German Artists.
Already after his death, the Nazi regime withdrew from collections and museums and destroyed some of Kerschbaumer's paintings that did not meet the tastes of the new government.
