Duchy of Brunswick (1814-1918)
Rudolf Friedrich August Henneberg was a German painter of the mid-nineteenth century. He is known as a historical painter and landscape painter.
Rudolf Henneberg created paintings with fairy tale and fantasy content, characterized by vivid imagination, strong composition, vividness and humor. In his technique can be felt the influence of French colorists and Rubens. In style, his work stands between late romanticism and realism. Some of Henneberg's famous works include The Magic Hunter, The Criminal for Lost Honor, and The Pursuit of Happiness. He also created patriotic murals at the "Warsaw Villa" in Charlottenburg. Many of his paintings were lost during World War II.
Friedrich Georg Weitsch was a German painter of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He is known as a painter and printmaker.
Weitsch created landscapes, historical and religious subjects, but a special place in his work was occupied by portraits of aristocrats, as well as ordinary people. His works are in various museums, including the Braunschweig City Museum, the Braunschweig Land Museum, and the Duke Anton Ulrich Museum of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel.
