Pia Pizzo

Pia Pizzo is an Italian artist based in London.

Pia Pizzo studied painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, Milan. In the 1960s she joined the international art movement "Punto" in Milan. After an intense and brilliant artistic career, she moved to Long Beach, California in 1982. The artist also worked in London, designing commercial children's books.

Since the early seventies, Pia's research led her to an ongoing exploration of the book as an art form. She began creating unreadable books for artists. In her non-fiction books and pages, the tactile values of materials are found in each sheet of paper, which is torn and handled with patient care to feel its texture and porosity, the very fabric of its surface. She has created various collage works in the style of abstract op art, using book pages among other things.
