Virginia Berresford is an American artist and printmaker.
Virginia Berresford studied with George Bridgman at the Art Students' League and in Paris with Amedee Ozenfan from 1925 to 1930. Berresford was known for her landscape paintings with strong composition and use of colour as well as attention to detail.
In the 1950s she opened an art gallery in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Detroit Art Institute and the Dallas Museum of Art.
Georgia Totto O'Keeffe was an American modernist artist. She was known for her paintings of enlarged flowers, New York skyscrapers, and New Mexico landscapes. O'Keeffe has been called the "Mother of American modernism".
Arthur Garfield Dove was an American artist. An early American modernist, he is often considered the first American abstract painter. Dove used a wide range of media, sometimes in unconventional combinations, to produce his abstractions and his abstract landscapes. Me and the Moon from 1937 is a good example of an Arthur Dove abstract landscape and has been referred to as one of the culminating works of his career. Dove did a series of experimental collage works in the 1920s. He also experimented with techniques, combining paints like hand mixed oil or tempera over a wax emulsion as exemplified in Dove's 1938 painting Tanks, in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Edward Stuart Davis was an American artist, a representative of Cubism and Pop Art in painting. He was also active in politics; one of Davis's goals was to "reconcile abstract art with Marxism and modern industrial society. Along with his paintings, Davis was also an engraver and member of the Society of American Graphic Artists.
Charles Sheeler was an American realist painter, one of the greatest representatives of precursorism and American art photography of the twentieth century. He was educated at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, after which he worked as a professional photographer. Later he began to create artistic works, the basis of which were made by his earlier photographs. The theme of his work is the beauty of modern production, the age of machines and mechanisms, and the industrial landscape.
