Photography — Discoveries
Jürgen Klauke is a German artist. Beginning in the 1960s, he used his own body as a subject of his photographs. He also experimented with minimalism and surrealism. The ZKM in Karlsruhe exhibits his work. Since 1968 he lives and works in Cologne.
Sigmar Polke was a German painter and photographer.
Polke experimented with a wide range of styles, subject matters and materials. In the 1970s, he concentrated on photography, returning to paint in the 1980s, when he produced abstract works created by chance through chemical reactions between paint and other products. In the last 20 years of his life, he produced paintings focused on historical events and perceptions of them.
Jörg Sasse is a German photographer and visual artist. He is considered a representative of the Düsseldorf School of Photography.. His work uses found images that are scanned, pixelated and manipulated. In 2003 Sasse won the Cologne Fine Art Award and in 2005 was shortlisted for the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize. His work is held in the collections of the Belvedere, Fotomuseum Winterthur, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Städel.
