Georg Dionysius Ehret was a German botanist and entomologist known for his botanical illustrations.
Ehret's original art work may be found at the Natural History Museum in London, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, The Royal Society, London, the Lindley Library at the Royal Horticultural Society, the Victoria and Albert Museum, at the University Library of Erlangen, the LuEsther T. Mertz Library of the New York Botanical Garden, and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Egbert van Heemskerck, or Egbert Jaspersz van Heemskerk was a Haarlem Dutch Golden Age painter of genre works who died in London in 1704. He is often confused with another genre painter also called Egbert van Heemskerk III who lived c. 1676 – 1744.
Melchior d'Hondecoeter was Dutch animalier painter, was born in Utrecht and died in Amsterdam. After the start of his career, he painted virtually exclusively bird subjects, usually exotic or game, in park-like landscapes. Hondecoeter's paintings featured geese (brent goose, Egyptian goose and red-breasted goose), fieldfares, partridges, pigeons, ducks, northern cardinal, magpies and peacocks, but also African grey crowned cranes, Asian sarus cranes, Indonesian yellow-crested cockatoos, an Indonesian purple-naped lory and grey-headed lovebirds from Madagascar.
Johann Karl Loth was a German painter of the second half of the 17th century, the Baroque era. He is known as a painter and graphic artist, a representative of Caravaggism.
Loth painted canvases with historical, religious and mythological subjects, as well as portraits. In portrait painting, he brought elements of genre, which was influenced by the Flemish masters. The combination of dynamic brushstrokes, colorful variety and spectacular lighting in the style of the masters of Northern Italy attracted the attention of European collectors and aristocratic clients.
Johann Martin Metz was a German painter and drawer. His favorite subject was still lifes with flowers, sometimes with allegory. His son (Konrad Martin Metz) and daughter (Maria Gertrude Metz) also became painters and printmakers.
Anthonie Palamedesz was a Dutch portrait and genre painter. He is in particular known for his merry company paintings depicting elegant figures engaged in play, music and conversation as well as guardroom scenes showing soldiers in guardrooms. Like many Dutch painters of his time, he painted portraits and still lifes, including vanitas still lifes. He further painted the staffage in a few views of the interior of churches. He played a major role in the development of genre painting in Delft in the mid 17th century.
