A BIG ICON WITH THE THRONE of the mother of GOD WITH THE HOLY JOHN THE PRECURSOR AND SPIRIDON OF CORFU, Greece, Ionian Islands, 17. Century Wood Panel. Egg tempera on chalk, Nimben and Background gold-plated, Nimben ornamental punched. 46.5 x 44 cm. Axially symmetrical composition, with the centered on an ornate stone throne of the seated mother of God, the blessing Christ child holds in her lap. John the Baptist and the Saint Spiridon flank the mother of God to both sides. Fine elaboration of the Inkarnate with highlights in White. Vertical cracks, min. restored
