Signed lower right and in 1844 dated. Oil on canvas 57 x 74.5 cm. Doubled. Restored frame min. dam. Benno Raffael Adam, son of battle painter Albrecht Adam, first received a training in painting and lithography at the Atelier of his father. Before he on the scenes of hunting and animal pieces specialist, he worked 1827-33, together with his father and brother Franz to the lithographic result of "Voyage pittoresque et militaire de Berg en Prusse jusqu'à Moscou". The present painting illustrates how Benno Adam acquired knowledge of the battle painting, an exquisite connection with a psychological associated and analyzing the representation of animals, an ability that had him as an animal painter was extremely successful. Later there was a further cooperation with the brothers Franz and Eugen for the episode "memories of the field trains of the K. K. Oestr. Army in Italy in the years 1848-49".
