Burma/Myanmar. Shan. 18./19. Century

Red dry varnish (man-hpaya) with remains of gilding. Textile with paint and sawdust, the inside with clay and smoothed out. Eyes inlaid with mother-of-pearl. Top from wood, painted and remnants of gilding. The design of the face is typical of Buddhas of the Shan Tradition with almost closed
Eyes and a smiling mouth. The stylized ears with elongated earlobes. On
Neck are still parts of the garment are visible, which are taken in a different shade of red. Height 48cm. Condition A/B.
