as a Grand Tour SouvenirBlack and different shades of coloured marble. On the edge of a water-filled shell of four seats at the end of the so-called doves of Pliny. The Greek mosaic artist Sosos created in 2. Century BC, this motif in Pergamon. Around the year 77 BC, the ancient writer, Pliny described this engaging presentation. Since then, the famous motif is always to re-use, including as a floor mosaic in the Villa of Hadrian in Tivoli, today exhibited in the Musei Capitolini Palazzo Nuovo in Rome. Original, ebonisierter, cranked wooden frame. Presentation: D. 21.5 cm.
