Approx. 17 × 17 × 17cm, 3-piece Mahagonibox with round ivory inlay, side handles, and original carrying keys, in original lined with silk, special and extraordinary locking device for the gimbal, brass case, case numbered 1142, dial on the rear 1142, plant number 619 hallmarked, signed chronometer movement, the special quality, cylindrical spiral, a special quality, original, signed and numbered dial with a display of 48-hour power reserve, gilt hands, very beautiful condition, fully functional. These marine chronometers of Le Roy are extremely rare and of high fine quality. The manufacturer was Theodore Marie Leroy (1827-1899), a famous watchmaker in Argenteuil, a student of Vissiere and Winnerl to 1848. He then returned to Vissiere in Le Havre, worked in London and later for Breguet as a workshop foreman. He was in 1859, "Horloger de la Marine".
