Lot 1014Mirko Horvat (1955): Rural Representation Of Austria / Hungary. Behind-Glass Painting. 1988.
Glass image, 34 x 44 cm. In the Golden frame with Velvet and Golden bar, overall 51 x 61 cm. Signed lower right and dated "Mirko Horvart 1988". Very high quality framing, very good condition.
Mirko Horvat was born in 1955 in Zdala (Croatia). He started very early with the painting, which he had inherited from his father, Joseph Horvat - one of the first post-war painters of naive motifs. His style developed rapidly under the influence of M. Kovacic, which is characterized by many of his own ideas, soft pastel colors, and (detail) motifs from nature. In his pictures, Horvat is increasingly showing a significant maturation process, the creative personality, in the expression of a rich spirituality and a strong excitation is expressed, and a creative act is triggered. This applies in particular to the works in the last five years, with which the artist has a greater penetration of the art in the public space. Mirko Horvat has exhibitions since 1969 until 2003, over 40 single and more than a hundred group exhibitions. He is a member of the Association of artists in Zagreb.
