Provenance: The Vase may have been at the world exhibition in Paris in 1900 by the Industrialist Hans
Hähnle (1838 - 1909). Hans Hähnle owned several factories, including the United felt factories, with the company headquarters in Giengen/Brenz. Not only was he an uncle of Margarete Steiff, but also produced for the game factory. Furthermore, he was politically active, and several times a member of the Württemberg Landtag and the Reichstag. In 1896 he was appointed by king Wilhelm II to the Kommerzienrat. His wife Lina Hähnle, founded in 1899, the Federal government for the protection of birds, today, NABU, and led it for 38 years, earning her the nickname "mother bird". Due to their numerous charitable concerns, both Hans Hähnle, as well as his wife Lina were appointed honorary citizens of the city of Giengen. The family owned several villas, including the war mountain road in Stuttgart, in which the Vase was for a long time. In the turmoil of the Second world war, it was brought to Giengen. The Villa itself was destroyed in the bombing raids on Stuttgart completely.

A form identical vase pair was located at the entrance of the exhibition booth of Ferdinand Hubert Schmitz
(= Orivit) at the world exhibition 1900 in Paris. The exposed area of the lace pieces at the entrance were also recruited for the technical innovation introduced by Orivit, a tin alloy with addition of Silver. The model numbers 2562 - 2569, including the Vase, is one, belonging to the luxury goods and most expensive objects of the production. There were the normal metal mount, as well as, as here, in a gilded version.
