Ø52,5mm, approx. 103g, metal case with coin edge, back side of fine-geperlter edge and floral engraving, in a technically highly interesting early Cylinder movement with automatic winding, signed Joseph s painter Stauf(f), enamel dial, steel hands, viable, extremely rare German collector's watch. This watch comes from the Hand of the well-known watchmaker, Joseph, painter, was a descendant of a prestigious Staufen family of Watchmakers. Franz Joseph Mahler (*12. August 1795 in Staufen/Germany; †21. June 1845 in Munich) was a German instrument maker and inventor. He created optical and mechanical instruments for the leading astronomers and observatories of its time. His brother, Franz, Mahler was also an important manufacturer of small clocks; his invention succeeded for the self-winding pocket watches.
