Lot 4277Pocket watch: unique skeletonized Frackuhr of the finest quality, Kurt Schaffo, in Le Locle, caliber IWC 952, one of a KIND, approx 1980
Approx. 48mm, approx. 54g, 18K Gold, glazed on both sides, on both sides, intricately skeletonized and engraved, caliber IWC 952, steel hands, signed Kurt Schaffo Le Locle, excellent condition, fully functional. The caliber is extremely rare. IWC has used it himself in some watches, for example, in the case of a watch which was auctioned at Sotheby's (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/neB). The present work was probably completed by Kurt Schaffo in Le Locle, only full. The contemporary watchmaker Kurt Schaffo from Le Locle worked at the well-known tourbillon Bauer, Fritz Robert-Charrue, before he made his named after him company independently and on, the handcrafted Skeletonizing of watch movements specialized. In Schaffo all jobs stay within the family: His son, Christian, engraved in the Work of his father. Only about 20-30 mechanical wrist watches, all unique, and leave his name a year of his workshops. About the same number of watches he worked for well-known watch brands, such as. for example, Zenith!
