around 1800, the colored enamel dial inscribed: "Bataille in Arcola won by Bonaparte 16. November 1795", including finely painted battle scene in the middle semi-circular Opening under which a tab, marching troops and a Sidecar show, work with spindle escapement, silver outer case with tortoiseshell ground, with fail operational with key, dial minimal hair crack, otherwise Z 2, D, 55 mm. Info: The battle of Arcole took place from 15. to 17. November 1796 during the Italian campaign between the French, under General Napoleon Bonaparte and the Austrians under field-generating master Joseph Alvinczy in Arcole in Italy. Austrian relief troops for the French trapped the fortress of Mantua, and marched in two columns to Verona.
