Das erste Gemälde auf dem Steinkrug mit ligiertem Monogramm "VM", auf dem zweiten Gemälde auf dem umgestürzten Krug ein verdoppeltes Monogramm "VM"(?). Rückseitig Ausstellungsetiketten Dordrecht / Arnhem bzw. Arnhem. Auf dem erstem Gemälde russisches Klebeetikett. Alte Klebeetiketten mit Nummerierungen 15 und 16. Versch. handschriftliche Nummerierungen. Öl auf Holz. Je ca. 22,8 x 19,3 cm. Restaurierung. Rahmen min. beschädigt Auf dem Rahmen des ersten Gemäldes rückseitig Eigentümeretikett Geus van den Heuvel sowie Klebeetikett mit Nummerierung 27. Der flämische Künstler Vincent Malo war in Antwerpen und Genua, am Ende seines Lebens in Florenz und Rom tätig. Seine Ausbildung soll er bei David Teniers d. Ä. erhalten haben, eine Lehrzeit bei Peter Paul Rubens wird angenommen. Malo war auf kleinformatige Historiengemälde, Genreszenen und Schlachtenbilder spezialisiert. Von seinen wenigen nachweisbaren Genregemälden steht das Gemälde "Trinkende Bauern vor einer Herberge" im Rijksmuseum Amsterdam den beiden vorliegenden Gemälden hinsichtlich der Gestaltung der Physiognomien sehr nahe (Inv.-Nr. SK-A-590). Noch ist es ein Forschungsdesiderat, das Schaffen des älteren Vincent Malo von jenem seines gleichnamigen Sohnes (1629 Antwerpen - 1668 ebenda) eindeutig zu scheiden.
