The terrible Sicilian cyclops Polyphemus was in love with her, but she rejected him, because she loved Akida-Acis (the son of the forest god Pan). Polyphemus waylaid Aquid and crushed him with a rock; Galatea turned her lost lover into a beautiful clear river
