Shaped rectangular, the ormolu-framed fall-front and all sides inset with black lacquer decorated with gilt landscapes, opening to a fitted red-japanned interior with three drawers lined in nashiji lacquer over a leather-lined writing surface, on cabriole legs, stamped 'I DUBOIS JME' twice, the underside marked '29' in white chalk and with a paper label printed '122', another paper label faintly inscribed in ink ‘…4’
