A Presentation Folder and Documents from Hitler’s Personal Co-Pilot, Max Zintl
Bronze-brown leather folder, edges trimmed in dark-brown interwoven leather lace. At front centre an embossed dark-brown image of a flying Ju-52 with wing and fuselage designation “D-2490”, which was an aircraft assigned to the "Fliegerstaffel des Führers" from 1933-1941, operating under the name “Lufthansa Gustav Doerr”, named after a WWI flying ace. Inside is lined of brown cloth with two left side pockets, a large protective flap and four inner, paper pages for photo album attachment. Size ca. 40 x 30 cm, folds open to 60 cm. Documents inside include: Air navigations chart of surrounding Berlin area hand-marked in red and blue pencil with possible travel routes. Two carbon copies, one a list of call signs for various government aircraft and radio stations used, the second a 1935 dated report on radio beacons. Five award documents to Max Zintl consisting of Finnish Cross of Liberty with Swords, Finnish Order of the White Rose Knights Class with Swords, Order of the Star of Romania Knights Class, Bulgarian Order of Military Merit and Bulgarian Order for Civil Merit. Two small, period photos of planes from Hitler’s Fliegerstaffel. Small moisture stains on back of leather folder, remains of label in upper left inside corner.
Max Zintl was Co-Pilot and Flight Engineer to Hans Baur, the personal pilot to Adolf Hitler and head of "Fliegerstaffel des Führers" from 1933 until the end of the war.
