Los 30 | ALBIN PALLASITE METEORITE
Schätzwert
£ 10 000 – 15 000
In 1915, ranchers in Wyoming found a strange heavy rock while clearing fields; this 37-kg rock was subsequently identified as a rare pallasite meteorite in 1935. The original mass was acquired by Harvey Nininger and sold to the Center for Meteorite Studies at Arizona State University. Albin is known for its large angular olivine crystals, many of which are gem quality. Specimens of Albin are difficult to acquire.
This slice was cut from the main mass at ASU and has the original museum label assigned to this specimen. It is ASU collection number 314.1. A specimen like this from a well-documented museum collection is rarely available and highly desirable.
