Two illuminated Arabic manuscripts

(i) Qur'an, Ottoman Turkey, 19th century. 403pp. with 2 flyleaves, each folio with 15ll. black naskh within gold and black rules, with gold and polychrome roundel verse markers and red diacritics, sura headings in red ink on illuminated gold panels, red marginal ‘ashr, occasional marginal medallions, catchwords, the opening bifolio with gold and polychrome illumination framing 7ll. black naskh, in contemporaneous stamped and gilt brown leather binding.
Text panel 5 × 2 3/4in. (12.8 × 7.1cm.); folio 7 1/16 × 4 1/2in. (18.0 × 11.5cm.)
Provenance: Colker MS O3; acquired from Arnak Bey, Bazaar Istanbul in 1963.

(ii) A prayerbook, Ottoman Turkey, late 18th or 19th century. 72pp. with 2 flyleaves, each folio with 12ll. black naskh within gold and polychrome rules, gold and polychrome roundel verse markers, keywords in red, headings in white reserved against gold clouds, opening folio with 10ll. black naskh set below a gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece, in contemporaneous brown leather binding with stamped and black and gilt decoration.
Text panel 5 1/16 × 2 9/16in. (12.9 × 6.8cm.); folio 6 3/16 × 4 1/16in. (15.8 × 10.4cm.)
Provenance: (1) Colker's notes have the scribe as Abdul-Rahman, known as Yahia Zada. A.H. 1100 = A.D. 1722; (2) Colker MS O4; acquired from Arnak Bey, Bazaar Istanbul in 1963.
