First edition, first impression, first state. Goldfinger incited in Fleming even more excitement than usual. It is the longest of all Bond narratives and was referred to by the author as ‘the next volume of my autobiography’ (Pearson, The Life of Ian Fleming, London, 1966). Anthony Burgess included this title in his 99 Novels: The Best in English since 1939. Gilbert A7a (1.1).

Publisher’s black cloth, decorated in blind and gilt, with the short diagonal line blocked to the upper part of the skull on front cover, original dust-jacket by Richard Chopping (dust-jacket with small black mark on front panel, spine panel a little dark, very light soiling confined to upper section of rear panel); housed in modern quarter morocco box.
