A fragment from Moralia in Iob, in Latin, manuscript on vellum [Italy, 10th century].
An early fragment from one of the most popular patristic texts of the Carolingian period.
c.162 x 370mm. A fragment of a bifolium, remains of 18 visible lines in 2 columns, the script a Caroline minuscule hand, leaning to the right, bowls with a slightly flattened aspect, 'rs' and 'ri' ligatures, and some extended finials; the text comprises part of Gregory the Great's Moralia in Iob, Book 35.17-19 ('[ as]censu generatur […]’ to ‘et alia claritas lunae, et alia claritas stellarum [...]’), ornamental initials (significant staining obscuring large sections of texts, text on the outer face is very faded, cropped on all sides).
