First edition, first issue, uncut; with what is purported to be a fragment of Byron's Corsair costume that was worn in Missolonghi a few weeks before his death. Randolph and Wise do not record the additional 4 pages of advertisements for Murray's works, printed by J.F. Dove. The first issue includes an ad for Samuel Rogers's Jacqueline on p.56. This copy is uncut in original wrappers. The book is housed together with a thin strip of red fabric (85 x 10mm) mounted on a small card with explanatory text regarding Byron's costume. Half-title; text is followed by: 2-page publisher's advertisements, half-titles and titles to be used in binding the pamphlet editions of Byron's Works into two volumes, and an additional 4 pages of publisher's advertisements dated June 1815. Original drab wrappers, uncut (rebacked with thick paper extending about an inch onto both upper and lower wrappers; light soiling and with some chipping and creasing at extremities); cloth folding case.
