A fine example of Franklin's Poor Richard, replete with an essay blaming the printer for typographical errors for the 1749 edition. The entry for April features a discussion on Smallpox inoculations observing that in 1722 "Princesses Amelia and Carolina, were inoculated for the Small Pox, after the Experiment had been tried for the first Time in England on some condemned Malefactors…" as well as nots on its virulence in Native American communities. July includes a remedy for bedbugs. Miller 469; Evans 6320.
12mo (175 x 95mm). Calendrical woodcuts and anatomical cut (a few minor spots, small marginal loss to one page restored). Later morocco, spine gilt in compartments.
