Christian Rohlfs war ein deutscher Maler der Moderne.
Im künstlerischen Werk von Christian Rohlfs spiegeln sich mehrere relevante Zeitströmungen wider, beginnend mit der naturalistisch-historistischen Akademiemalerei der 1870er Jahre. Prominenz aber erlangte er, bei aller Eigenständigkeit, in den beiden bedeutenden Stilrichtungen seiner Epoche, zunächst dem Impressionismus und später dem Expressionismus, und wurde so zum „Nestor der deutschen Moderne.“
