In ihrem langen Leben schrieb Sally Wood vier Romane und eine Märchensammlung. Sie gilt als die erste amerikanische Autorin der Gothic Fiction. Sie signierte ihre Romane mit "The Lady from Massachusetts" oder "The Lady from Maine". Der erste Roman mit dem Titel Julia and the Enlightened Baron wurde 1800 veröffentlicht.
