In his youth he survived several escape attempts, prison and even forced psychiatry, in 1978 through diplomatic efforts Germany ransomed him. Dorel Dobokan describes art as self-therapy. A clear blue sky and a paper airplane are symbols of his art. He lives and works in Mainz and Paris.
