Robert Riviere was a British bookseller and bookbinder, founder of Riviere & Sons.
Robert Riviere came from a French family, his father was a painter. In 1829, Riviere set up business in Bath as a bookseller and then a bookbinder. In 1840 he moved his firm to London. Due to the excellent quality of his products gradually won the recognition of connoisseurs, and his services were used by many major collectors.
Rivière carried out commissions for the Queen and members of the royal family. He also restored and bound the famous Doomsday Book, now in the Record Office. His grandson Percival Culkin became a partner in 1881, the firm was renamed Robert Riviere & Son and continued until 1939.
