Jacques Le Chevallier was a French glassmaker, decorative artist, illustrator, and engraver. He was mobilized during World War I; after the war he became a master artisan in the studio of Louis Barillet, with whom he remained until 1945. His collaborators there included Théodore-Gérard Hanssen.

Georges Jacob lived a long and rich life, during which he worked in many styles. He started out as a Rococo master in 1765 and was a supplier to the royal court and in particular to Marie-Antoinette (Queen of France since 1774), but soon moved on to the more austere style of French Neoclassicism and, later, Empire.
