Johannes Hermanus Koekkoek was a Dutch painter and draughtsman. Following his education, he worked as an art teacher, but soon decided to become a free-lance artist. In 1826, he moved to Durgerdam, near Amsterdam, where he would live and work until 1833. He initially combined seascapes and cityscapes but, in his later years, focused entirely on ocean scenes. Much of his inspiration came from the painters of the Dutch Golden Age. His style was essentially Realistic, but alos showed elements of the newer Romantic aesthetic. Rather than merely paint ships, he also learned as much as he could about the different types.
Friedrich Boser, full name Karl Friedrich Adolf Boser was a German genre painter and portrait painter of the Düsseldorf school.
Friedrich Boser first studied painting at the art academies in Dresden and Berlin, from 1837 he attended the 2nd class of historical painting at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts. From 1841 to 1843 he studied genre and portrait painting there, which he has been mainly engaged in ever since.
Friedrich Boser paid great attention to the subtlety of painting and the detailed study of objects. He also tried his hand at literary subjects.
Felix Schlesinger was a German painter and illustrator. He studied figurative painting in Antwerp and in 1850 and 1851 at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts.

Hermann von Kaulbach was a German painter and illustrator, son of Wilhelm von Kaulbach.
Hermann von Kaulbach studied painting under Karl Piloti. His paintings are mostly brilliant technically and are particularly interesting for their excellent detailing, which, however, sometimes hurt the interest of the content.
In 1886 he was appointed professor of the history of painting at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts.
Hubert Salentin was a German genre painter.
He studied painting at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art. Salentin became famous for his interesting paintings depicting scenes from rural life in West Germany, often with children and in nature.
Robert Hermann Sterl was a German painter and graphic artist.
From 1881 to 1888, he attended the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied under Leon Pohle and Julius Scholtz, later becoming a master student of Ferdinand Pauwels. A stay at the artists' colony in Goppeln near Bannewitz introduced him to impressionism and plein air painting.
Charles Henri Joseph Leickert was a Belgian painter of Dutch landscapes. As a specialist in winter landscapes, he explored the nuances of the evening sky and the rosy-fingered dawn.
Andreas Achenbach was a German landscape and seascape painter in the Romantic style. He is considered to be one of the founders of the Düsseldorf School.[citation needed] His brother, Oswald, was also a well known landscape painter. Together, based on their initials, they were known as the "Alpha and Omega" of landscape painters.

Leberecht Lortet was a French painter.
A student of Alexandre Calame, he is famous for his landscape paintings, mainly of the Alps. He lived most of his life in and around Lyon (from 1848 to 1861). He devoted his life to painting mountains: snowy peaks, green meadows surrounded by fir trees, and lakes in the shade. His nickname is "the painter of the Alps".
