Adieu Macias Ngwema Cardboard Oil paint Expressionism Landscape painting 1986
This was my very first attempt in oil. It was in Russia -Astrakhan , 1986,during my one-year Russian language studies, it was oil on thick paper, because I did not know then oil was specifically meant to be used on special canvas, My understanding of the artist traditional canvas was very vague. What actually inspired me was the dual tone painting on a postal stamp I got from a student from Equatorial Guinea. The use of just two colours to convey the drama surrounding the country's ruler, made such an aristic impact on me .that I decided to spend most part of my summer holiday to work on this piece. It is and will remain the most expensive work in my collection because this is where I ventured into freedom with oil paint.
